The Rev. Dr. Benjamin E. Bernier
The Rev. Dr. Benjamin E. Bernier was born on November 4, 1962, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He married Miriam H. Vega in 1989, and they have seven sons: Esteban, Agustín, Sebastián, Juan Marcos, Pablo, Benjamin, and Gabriel, and fifteen grandchildren.
He graduated from high school at Colegio Bautista de Carolina, earned his BA and MA in philosophy at the University of Puerto Rico, and received his theological preparation at Seminario Teológico Episcopal, San Pablo, PR. He obtained his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Lancaster University, UK. His dissertation was on the religious foundation of Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy.
He is Head of Pastoral Theology at our diocesan seminary, Cranmer House, and has been assisting the Cuban REC Mission in the development of its seminary program, Casa Cranmer, in Cuba, translating materials for theological education, including the REC Prayer Book, into Spanish.
He has been a minister in the Reformed Episcopal Church since 1991 and Rector of Providence Reformed Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, since 2001.
